There are three things I rarely talk about here; sport, politics and religion. No matter what your personal allegiances are, the passion behind the belief is often so intense that there is the possibility to divide and that is never my intent. But today I am just so damn excited I’m going to break my unwritten rule because my beloved Cronulla Sharks have booked themselves a place in the NRL grand final for the first time since 1978. Well there was that thing in 1997 due to Super League but I don’t count that blip in the sports proud history and neither should you. For those that know nothing about NRL, this is huge for the Sharks. It’s a fantastic achievement for any team to make the GF but even more special for the Sharks who remain one of only two teams never to have won a premiership. Of course today (and let’s face it every day this week) I am wearing the black, white & blue with pride. Read on for all the details …
I Bleed Black, White & Blue
I have been a Sharks supporter since I was four years old and have been passionately wearing the black, white & blue ever since. It’s not easy being staunch in the face of adversity and Sharks supporters cop more ‘friendly’ banter than most. This year we can silence the haters once and for all. I have everything crossed that the boys will bring it home but it will no easy feat beating Melbourne. It’s even harder for me as I am down south all week and the sea of purple is almost too much for this Sharks fan to take. So wherever you are at 8pm AEST on Sunday 2 October think of me at kick off. I’ll be sure to let you know how it turns out next week.
